Essay for history poster

My design expresses the brief history of Alternative Press Magazine, or AP Magazine. I attempted and believe that I succeeded in engaging the audience by using bright colors and sharp edges in the background collage of magazine clippings. I think my design conforms to the "rule of thirds" by making my text off center and keeping the collage consistent in the background.
I implemented the basic principles in my design. Emphasis was on the text "Alternative Press" and on the background collage. I used alignment by lining up the text boxes, and aligning them with the right side. Contrast was used with the text and opaque boxes against the background. I also tweaked the contrast a little bit on the pictures in the background as well. I used balance by making the background consistent. Flow was implemented by the consistent sharp edges throughout the background, and repetition was implemented the same way.
Color and typography pulls this design together completely. The colors in the background catch the eye and give off the vibe of the magazine itself. The typography has a cracked texture and I felt it matched the design correctly.
